Public beach Gålö, Skälåker

The 500-meter stretch of sand at Gålö Havsbad extends along Skälåkersviken bay, featuring shallow waters and natural bathing cliffs near the shoreline.

The Stockholm municipality acquired the Gålö peninsula in 1948 and initiated the construction of recreational facilities in 1960 to serve the capital's residents.

The Skälåker farm functions as a central hub for the beach complex, incorporating reception services and a restaurant that serves regional Swedish cuisine.

The beach area includes extensive parking facilities, picnic tables on a wide lawn, and an ice cream kiosk offering snacks, hot dogs, and refreshments.

Gålö Fritidsområde records 30,000 overnight stays annually and attracts one million visitors as the largest recreational complex in the Mälar valley.
