Don Mueang, Administrative district in northern Bangkok, Thailand
Don Mueang is an administrative district in northern Bangkok, comprising three sub-districts: Si Kan, Don Mueang, and Sanambin. The area forms a significant gateway to the city and serves as a major urban zone in Bangkok's northern region.
The district was originally known as Don I Yiao, a name meaning 'upland of hawks,' before King Vajiravudh renamed it. The change followed the establishment of a Royal Thai Air Force base in the region.
The district maintains strong political involvement with consistent support for the Pheu Thai Party and its predecessors since the political changes of 2006.
The district is home to Don Mueang International Airport and numerous airline companies along with other major employers. Visitors should expect the area to be busy during peak hours due to airport traffic and activity.
The district records temperatures reaching 35°C during peak months with annual rainfall of 1,474.3 millimeters concentrated between May and October.
