Memorial Bridge, Bridge in Thailand
The Memorial Bridge is a bascule bridge over the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok, Thailand.
Built in 1932, the bridge commemorates the 150th anniversary of the Chakri Dynasty and the foundation of Bangkok.
It connects the districts of Phra Nakhon and Thonburi, playing a significant cultural and economic role for local residents.
Smooth traffic flow is enabled by both the bascule mechanism and the lower deck which serves boats and larger vessels.
Uniquely, it was the first bridge to cross the Chao Phraya river.
