Wat Matchimawat

The temple features traditional Thai architecture with white walls, multiple rooftop tiers, and ornate decorations throughout the main prayer hall and surrounding structures.

Prince Prachaksinlapakhom established this temple, formerly known as Wat Non Mak Khaeng, during the foundation period of Udon Thani city in the early 20th century.

The temple houses Luang Pho Nak, a white stone Buddha statue measuring 2 feet tall, which serves as the principal sacred image of Udon Thani province.

The temple maintains regular visiting hours and requires visitors to remove shoes before entering buildings and wear clothing that covers shoulders and knees.

A larger plaster Buddha statue encases and protects the original Luang Pho Nak image, creating a distinctive dual-layered sacred representation.
