Borom Ratchasathit Mahoran Banquet Hall, Royal banquet hall in Grand Palace, Bangkok, Thailand
The Borom Ratchasathit Mahoran Banquet Hall is a royal event venue within the Grand Palace composed of multiple connected structures surrounding two interior courtyards. The ensemble sits on an elevated platform as part of the larger Chakri Maha Prasat complex.
Construction started in 1996 and faced delays during the 1997 Asian financial crisis before the hall opened on June 1, 2006. The structure replaced two earlier buildings that King Rama V had built for receiving foreign dignitaries.
The hall remains central to Thai royal ceremonies and state receptions, reflecting the monarchy's role in national life. The structure embodies the formal nature of diplomatic gatherings and royal traditions that visitors can observe from its exterior.
The hall sits in the rear section of the Chakri Maha Prasat group and remains closed to the public because it continues to serve state functions. Visitors can view its exterior from the palace grounds if they enter in appropriate dress and follow guidelines.
The hall hosted delegations from around 25 monarchies during celebrations for King Rama IX's 60th anniversary on the throne. These gatherings demonstrate the venue's role in international relations and Thailand's diplomatic standing.
