Wat Taklam, Buddhist temple in Nong Bon, Thailand
Wat Taklam is a Buddhist temple in the Nong Bon district of Bangkok, situated along Chaloem Phrakiat Rama 9 Road. The grounds hold a main prayer hall, several shrines, and worship spaces built in a traditional Thai style.
The temple was founded in southeastern Bangkok and gradually became a religious center for the Nong Bon community. It has shaped the spiritual life of this part of the city across several generations.
Wat Taklam is linked to the legend of Mae Nak, a woman who, according to Thai folklore, stayed with her husband after death. Visitors come to leave offerings and ask for blessings in matters of love and relationships.
The temple is most easily reached by motorcycle taxi from On Nut BTS Station, with the main entrance on Chaloem Phrakiat Rama 9 Road. Visiting on a weekday morning tends to offer a quieter experience of the grounds.
One of the shrines features a mechanical skeleton dressed in prayer garments, which catches many visitors off guard. Near the temple grounds, releasing fish, eels, or small turtles into the river is practiced as an act of merit-making.
