The Blue Mosque, also known as the Sultan Ahmed Mosque, is a historic mosque located in Istanbul, Turkey.

Built between 1609 and 1616 during the rule of Ahmed I, its Külliye contains a tomb of the founder, a madrasah and a hospice.

The mosque is popularly known as the Blue Mosque for the blue tiles adorning the walls of its interior.

It is still used as a mosque, while also attracting large numbers of tourist visitors.

It was the first mosque in Turkey to have six minarets.
