Hukou Township

Hukou Township is a rural administrative division in Hsinchu County covering approximately 58 square kilometers at an average elevation of 120 meters (394 feet). The area comprises twenty villages scattered throughout a predominantly agricultural landscape.

The local railway station opened in 1893 as Dahukou Station and received its current name in 1920. This renaming reflected the area's transportation development and growing importance during that period.

The township preserves its agricultural character through twenty villages where residents continue farming traditions and celebrate local festivals together. These small communities maintain their connection to the land and each other through shared seasonal events and the rhythms of rural life.

The area is well-connected by public transportation with train services at the local station and bus routes operated by Hsinchu Bus Corporation. Visitors can easily move between the different villages using these transportation options.

The area hosts the 542nd Armor Brigade of Taiwan's military and a campus of China University of Technology alongside its farming communities. These two major institutions shape local activity despite the rural setting.
