Fangshan Township

Fangshan Township is a coastal township in Pingtung County covering roughly 17 square kilometers with four villages: Fangshan, Fenggang, Jialu, and Shanyu. These communities are organized together as a single administrative unit.

The township took its current administrative form during governance reforms in the late 20th century when Taiwan reorganized its provincial structures. This reshaping created the boundaries and organization that exist today.

Local farmers grow Aiwen mangoes that have become popular across Asian markets and shape the agricultural character of the region. You can see farming traditions in how the orchards are tended and harvested throughout the area.

Two railway stations, Neishi and Jialu, connect the township to the Taiwan Railways South-Link Line. These stations make it easy to explore the different villages and move between them.

The township serves as one of only two cable landing points in Taiwan for submarine communication networks, including C2C and SEA-ME-WE 3. This hidden infrastructure plays a key role in the country's international communications.
