Dashiv

Dashiv is a settlement in Illintsi Raion that stretches along the banks of the Sob River, a left tributary of the Southern Bug. The community sits at an elevation of around 198 meters (650 feet) and remains connected to larger urban centers through regional road networks.

The settlement came under the control of prominent Polish families such as the Zbaraski and Wiśniowiecki, who shaped the region over centuries. The 18th century brought significant upheaval through local uprisings and conflicts that left lasting impacts on the community.

The settlement sits in the Podolia region, where visitors can observe connections between farming traditions and local craftsmanship woven into everyday life. The way people interact with their surroundings reflects a blend of rural and modern influences.

In January 2024, Dashiv officially transitioned from an urban-type settlement to a rural settlement under recent Ukrainian legislative changes. This shift marks an interesting moment in the settlement's administrative history and demonstrates how Ukraine continues to reshape its local governance structures.
