Transfiguration church in Velyki Sorochyntsi

The Transfiguration Church stands with five domes and features a monumental structure with richly decorated facades displaying traditional architectural ornamentation patterns.

Colonel Danylo Apostol initiated the construction of this church in 1732, and after his death in 1734, he was interred in the crypt beneath the building.

The church contains a large seven-tiered iconostasis measuring 22 meters in height, incorporating more than one hundred religious icons across three distinct sections.

Located at Leheydy Street 1 in the Myrhorod district of Poltava region, the church maintains regular opening hours for religious services and visitor tours.

The interior walls display exceptional stucco decorations that represent the highest achievements of Ukrainian Baroque craftsmanship from the 18th century.
