Zamkovaya Hora is a prominent hill in Bila Tserkva with steep sides that rise above the surrounding landscape and offer extensive views. The site contains overlapping layers of ancient structures, including remains of defensive walls and religious buildings from different time periods.

In the 11th century, this location was home to Yuriev Ruski, an important settlement established under Yaroslav the Wise. This early medieval foundation marked the beginning of a long history of military and religious use at this strategic spot.

The hill served as a spiritual center where people sought shelter and conducted religious rituals across centuries. Visitors can still sense this sacred purpose today through the scattered remnants of chapels and holy sites that mark the landscape.

The hill is reached by marked trails that connect from several points in the city and offer varying levels of difficulty. The best time to visit is during drier months when the steep paths are safer to walk on.

The hill preserves settlement remains from different periods that are visibly stacked on top of each other, allowing archaeologists to read the complex history of occupation here. These layers tell a story of repeated building, destruction, and rebuilding across many generations.
