Church of John the Baptist

The Church of John the Baptist sits on Castle Hill and displays classical architecture with ornate wall decorations featuring intricate rosette patterns. The building follows a Latin cross layout and contains a white marble monument inside.

Count Ksaveriy Branytskyi built this structure in 1812-1813 as a memorial to his deceased son. The construction reflects how noble families of that era used religious buildings to honor personal losses.

The name honors John the Baptist, the church's patron saint, and reflects Catholic traditions brought to the region. Visitors can see how the interior artistic elements were created to inspire devotion and mark important family connections.

The building now operates as a concert venue with approximately 300 seats and opens daily. Visitors should expect classical and chamber music performances, and it helps to check opening times beforehand.

A Rieger-Kloss organ from Prague was installed in 1990, turning the former chapel into a concert space. This instrument now allows regular performances of classical music in a place originally built only for private prayer.
