Saint Mary Magdalene Church, Bila Tserkva

Saint Mary Magdalene Church is a classicist building with symmetrical proportions and refined architectural details in Bila Tserkva. The bell tower connects directly to the main structure, creating a unified and harmonious composition.

Countess Alexandra Branitska funded this building in 1843 as part of her mission to construct twelve Orthodox churches across the region. The structure has endured through various historical periods, serving the local community continuously.

The church served as a living center of worship during the Soviet era when many other religious sites were shut down. Today, visitors can sense how the local community continues to gather and maintain this sacred space.

The church is located at School Street 11/16 in the Zarechchia district, away from the main historical center of town. The area is quiet and can be easily reached on foot, making it convenient for visitors exploring this quieter neighborhood.

In 2001, the site expanded with the construction of a large monastery dedicated to Saint Mary Magdalene. This later addition provides visitors with an interesting contrast between the original classicist building and the modern religious complex.
