Bila Tserkva

Bila Tserkva is a regional center in Kyiv Oblast that extends along the Ros River roughly 87 kilometers south of the capital. The settlement sits at an elevation of about 148 meters and hosts agricultural education facilities as well as production plants for machinery, tires, and furniture.

Yaroslav the Wise founded the fortified settlement of Yuriiev in 1032 to defend Kyivan Rus against nomadic tribes. The site changed rulers several times over the centuries and acquired its current name from the remains of an 11th-century white stone church.

The settlement takes its name from a white stone church built in 1050, and visitors today can walk through a landscaped park that dates back to the late 18th century. The park gathers plants from different regions and combines formal garden design with natural terrain across its grounds.

The city connects through rail lines and an airport, making it accessible from different directions. Visitors should allow enough time for the dendrological park, as the grounds cover a wide area and are best explored on foot.

The park grows plant species from several continents that were gathered in the late 18th century and now thrive between formal beds and natural forest sections. The grounds span over 200 hectares and combine historical garden art with the original landforms along the river.
