New bridges over the River Dnieper, Road bridge complex in Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine
The new bridges over the River Dnieper form a multi-span structure linking parts of Zaporizhzhia city. The main section uses a cable-stayed design with tall towers, while the remaining segments rest on supports.
Construction work began in 2004 and underwent several redesigns before the project was completed. The route opened to public traffic in January 2022.
The crossing leads to Khortytsia Island, a place linked to Cossack heritage and national memory. From the main span, travelers can see the wide river landscape that has served as a natural route for centuries.
The crossing serves both drivers and pedestrians traveling between city districts. On clear days, the route offers wide views of the river landscape as you pass over the water.
The cable-stayed section ranks among the tallest of its kind in Europe and was the first of this design built in Ukraine. The towers rise well above the surroundings and can be seen from many parts of the city.
