Бронтозавр тышкасьӧ кератозавръяскӧд, Monument and work of art in Saky, Ukraine.
The monument depicts a struggle between a plant-eating brontosaurus and predatory ceratosaurs, crafted from xylolit, a composite of wood sawdust and magnesium cement. It rises along the shore of an artificial pond within the resort park, displaying the creatures with muscular forms and dramatic postures.
Created by Sergey Likhosherstov in 1932, this monument was pioneering in the Soviet artistic landscape. A major restoration in 1982 added forged copper coverings to protect the surface and altered some proportions.
The brontosaurus sculpture became deeply connected to local identity, even being incorporated into the official city emblem. It remains a symbol that locals recognize and visitors encounter as part of the town's character.
The sculpture sits within a publicly accessible park and is easily reached on foot from the town center. Visit during dry weather when the grounds around the pond are most accessible.
This sculpture ranks as the second dinosaur monument ever built globally and the first one constructed anywhere in the Soviet Union. This pioneering status makes it historically significant for fans of paleontology-inspired public art.
