U-505, German submarine in Atlantic Ocean
U-505 is a German Type IXC U-boat built for service in the Kriegsmarine during World War II.
Captured on 4 June 1944 by United States Navy Task Group 22.3, U-505 is one of six U-boats that were captured by Allied forces during World War II.
It's now a major exhibit at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, Illinois.
Visitors can explore the submarine and learn about its history through interactive exhibits.
U-505 is the only German submarine in the United States, and now a National Historic Landmark.
