Bergsøysund Bridge

The Bergsøysund Bridge extends 931 meters across the Bergsøysundet strait, connecting Aspøya island to Bergsøya island through 13 structural spans.

Engineers in 1992 incorporated American floating bridge technology and Norwegian offshore platform expertise to create this infrastructure connecting Kristiansund to mainland Norway.

The bridge structure represents the engineering capabilities of Norwegian maritime construction, marking a significant advancement in Nordic transportation infrastructure.

The bridge maintains a clearance of 6 meters above sea level and includes seven pontoon sections with nine watertight compartments made from lightweight concrete.

The curved structure features a 1300-meter radius and adapts to tidal fluctuations of two meters while maintaining horizontal alignment at the abutments.
