Van Mijenfjorden

Van Mijenfjorden is a fjord in Svalbard with steep cliffs and several glaciers flowing to its shores. The waterway cuts deep into the landscape, creating a dramatic Arctic environment where ice and rock dominate the scenery.

The fjord takes its name from Dutch whaler Willem Cornelisz van Muyden, who worked in these waters during the early 1600s. His presence marks an important chapter in Arctic exploration and trade.
