Bolsøy Bridge, Road bridge in Molde Municipality, Norway.
The Bolsøy Bridge spans 555 meters across Bolsøysund strait with 11 spans, the longest measuring 55 meters and built from prestressed concrete. The structure provides continuous road access while maintaining 16 meters of clearance below for boat traffic.
Completed in 1991, this bridge created the first permanent road connection between mainland Norway and Bolsøya island. It ended the region's dependence on ferry transport for crossing the strait.
The bridge links island residents with the mainland, reshaping how people in these communities interact and move daily. It created regular connections that were previously impossible.
The bridge is part of County Road 64 and offers direct access with reliable conditions year-round. Be aware that strong winds can make crossing conditions challenging during storms.
Working together with the Fannefjord Tunnel, this bridge forms a complete car route without ferries from Molde to Nesjestranda. This pairing solved a major transportation gap that isolated the region for decades.
