Norwegian Armed Forces Aircraft Collection, Military museum in Ullensaker, Norway.
The Norwegian Armed Forces Aircraft Collection is a military museum in Ullensaker, close to Oslo Gardermoen Airport. It displays military aircraft alongside anti-aircraft weapons and other equipment from several decades of Norwegian air defense.
The Norwegian Aviation Historical Society was founded in 1967 and started gathering aircraft in a former Luftwaffe hangar left over from the Second World War. In 2000, the collection moved into a purpose-built facility that gave more room to the growing number of exhibits.
The collection reflects how Norway developed its air defense over the decades through the aircraft and equipment on display. These machines tell the story of how the nation protected its skies during different periods.
The museum sits right next to Oslo Gardermoen Airport and has free parking, making it easy to reach by car. A cafe, a gift shop, and a play area for children are available on site, so a visit can work well for different types of visitors.
Visitors can sit inside the cockpit of a real military jet and see what a pilot sees from that seat. The aircraft on display cover more than a century of flight, from Norway's first plane in 1912 to supersonic jets used in recent decades.
