Dalsfjord Bridge, Transportation bridge in Vestland, Norway
Dalsfjord Bridge is a steel structure spanning approximately 600 meters across the Dalsfjorden and connecting two small municipalities in Vestland. The roadway is wide enough to carry both cars and bicycles as part of the Norwegian County Road 609 route.
The bridge opened in 2013 and replaced the long-operating Dale-Eikenes ferry service that carried people and vehicles across the fjord. This change marked an important shift in how the Vestland region connected its communities.
The steel bridge represents a milestone in Norwegian infrastructure development, integrating modern engineering with the traditional fjord crossing methods.
Crossing is accessible to all who travel by car or bicycle, with gradual slopes that make the route manageable for various users. Visitors should note that the transition feels different depending on weather and season, with views changing based on the direction of travel.
The structure replaced more than just a ferry route; it changed how travelers experience the fjord landscape by offering a driving view across the water rather than a ferry's vantage point. The crossing stretches gently over water, creating a notable experience for cyclists.
