Brekkeparken, Museum park in Skien, Norway
Brekkeparken is a museum park built on a hilltop overlooking Skien center, featuring gardens, ponds, and walking paths spread across the grounds. The site showcases farm buildings from different periods and regions, creating a collection of historic structures.
The park began as a medieval farm called Søndre Brekke, which Niels Aall purchased in 1810 and redesigned with a main building and wings. Over time, farm buildings from other locations were moved here to create a museum of regional architecture.
The relocated farm buildings come from different regions of Telemark and show how people constructed their homes across the countryside. Walking through them reveals the building styles and daily life patterns that shaped the area.
The grounds have restroom facilities, picnic areas, and multiple pavilions scattered throughout. The pathways are well laid out, making it easy to move between different sections even if some areas may be harder to reach.
A bronze sculpture titled 'Huldren og gutten' stands near the theater pathway and was created by artist Sveinung Aanonsen. The figure was acquired by the museum in 1921 and remains one of the notable artworks visitors encounter.
