Olavshallen Concert Hall, Concert hall in central Trondheim, Norway
Olavshallen is a concert hall in central Trondheim with two performance spaces designed for musical events and other presentations. The main hall holds approximately 1240 people while the smaller hall seats around 350, allowing for different types of programs and audience sizes.
The hall opened in 1989 following King Olav V's foundation stone ceremony, with jazz pianist Oscar Peterson performing at the opening event. Since then the building has undergone renovations while continuing to serve as a major cultural venue for the city.
The venue presents classical concerts, opera, ballet, pop and jazz performances that reflect how this city values music in its cultural life. Walking through reveals a space where both local and visiting artists share their work with audiences throughout the seasons.
The venue sits in the city center and is easy to reach on foot or by public transport. It helps to arrive early for events and arrange your tickets in advance when possible.
A major renovation in 2022 brought advanced sound technology and custom-designed acoustic surfaces throughout both halls to improve how music sounds. These improvements make performances noticeably better for both performers and listeners.
