Iladalen park, Urban park in Trondheim, Norway
Iladalen park is an urban green space in Trondheim that runs between the Ila and Ilsvika districts across rolling terrain. The site contains an artificial pond with a curved bridge, open lawns, planted trees, and recreational facilities including a lit gravel sports court and sand volleyball area.
The park was created in 2008 when the Ilabekken stream was brought back above ground after being buried since the early 1900s. This watercourse had historically supported mills and water systems dating back to medieval times.
The park serves local residents as a gathering place where families spend time together and children play near the water features throughout the day. Its role reflects how people in this neighborhood value outdoor spaces for everyday social life.
The park can be entered from several streets including Mellomila, Hanskemakerbakken, and Koefoedgeilan with well-developed walking paths throughout. Benches are placed across the grounds, making it easy to find spots to sit and rest.
The park features fish steps built into the stream that allow fish to move upstream to their spawning grounds. This ecological addition represents an important part of restoring the natural water system in this part of the city.
