Muktinath Temple, Sacred temple in Nepal
Muktinath is a sacred place for both Hindus and Buddhists located in Muktinath Valley at an altitude of 3,710 meters.
The temple is considered to be 1068 years old, as inscribed on a stone tablet in the courtyard.
Hindus call the site Mukti Kshetra, which literally means the 'place of liberation or moksha'.
The site is close to the village of Ranipauwa, which is sometimes mistakenly called Muktinath as well.
The temple houses a human-sized golden statue of Vishnu as Shri Mukti Narayana.
