Palace of Mafra, Baroque palace in Portugal
The Palace of Mafra is a monumental Baroque and Italianized Neoclassical palace-monastery located in Mafra, Portugal.
Its construction began in 1717 under King John V and was completed in 1755.
The palace was classified as a National Monument in 1910, and was also one of the finalists of the Seven Wonders of Portugal.
The Palace of Mafra is open to the public and offers guided tours.
The library of the Palace of Mafra is one of the most beautiful in the world, with a collection of over 36,000 volumes.
