Heart of Jesus, Religious statue in Harghita, Romania
The Heart of Jesus is a steel monument on Gordon Peak standing 22 meters tall. A spiral staircase inside the structure allows visitors to ascend to the head section.
The monument was completed in 2011 and inaugurated in 2013, initiated by a local dairy company owner. Its creation was motivated by a desire to protect the community from natural disasters.
The statue depicts Jesus with open arms looking out over the Szeklerland region. Visitors can sense the spiritual meaning of this gesture, which represents protection and blessing for the surrounding communities.
The statue is reachable via DN13A road between Praid and Odorheiu Secuiesc, with the option to walk uphill or drive to a parking area. The final stretch requires some physical effort to reach the base.
Situated at 953 meters above sea level, it is the tallest Jesus statue in Eastern Europe by elevation. This mountain location makes it an unusual place for spiritual contemplation and prayer.
