Teatrul Național de Operă și Operetă Nae Leonard

The Nae Leonard National Theatre presents a range of performances including opera, operetta, symphonic concerts, ballet shows, and musical productions throughout the year.

The establishment of the first opera house in Galați between 1859 and 1865 led to increased artistic activity through the recruitment of Italian performers.

The theater maintains a diverse program of over 250 premieres, encompassing 40 opera works, 42 operettas, 10 musical comedies, and 20 ballet productions.

The venue operates Tuesday through Friday from 09:00 to 13:00 and 17:00 to 20:00, with extended evening hours on weekends from 17:00 to 22:00.

The institution changed its name from Musical Theatre to National Theatre of Opera and Operetta in 2018, reflecting its expanded artistic scope.
