Angara, Icebreaker in Russia
Angara is one of the oldest icebreakers in the world.
The vessel was built in 1898 and began service on Lake Baikal in 1900.
It represents a significant period of technological advance in Russian maritime history.
Angara is now permanently docked as a museum ship in Irkutsk.
This storied ship survived the Russo-Japanese War and both World Wars.
