Ekolsund Castle

Ekolsund Castle is a manor house in Enköping featuring two main wings that display different architectural styles from the Baroque period onward. The complex sits on landscaped grounds with formal gardens and operates today as both a cultural venue and restaurant serving visitors to the estate.

The estate began as a medieval property in the 14th century and entered royal ownership in 1542. It gained importance when Princess Sophia of Sweden made it her residence from 1578 to 1611, establishing it as a favored home for members of the royal family.

The castle grounds reveal how Swedish nobility lived, from the formal gardens surrounding the buildings to the rooms inside that tell stories of daily life through centuries.
