High Chaparral Theme Park, Western theme park in Småland, Sweden
High Chaparral Theme Park is an amusement park in Småland, Sweden, presenting a complete recreation of an 1870s American frontier town. Wooden buildings line dusty streets while performers stage daily train robberies and other Western scenes.
The site was founded in 1966 to introduce Swedish families to the culture of the American Wild West through immersive experiences and authentic replicas. Over the decades, it has expanded its themes to include various historical elements and new attractions.
Live shows throughout the grounds bring characters such as Lucky Luke, Zorro and the infamous Dalton Brothers to life through stunts and dialogue. Each performance translates elements of the American West onto Swedish soil and draws children and adults alike.
The grounds open daily from 10:00 to 19:00 and offer several dining venues with gluten-free, lactose-free and vegetarian dishes. Pathways are wide enough for wheelchairs and strollers, and most areas are designed for easy access.
Visitors can try their luck at gold panning, travel across the lake on a paddle steamer and witness staged buffalo encounters in a Nordic landscape. These activities blend Wild West romance with typically northern elements such as pine forests and clear lakes.
