Path of Remembrance and Comradeship

The Path of Remembrance and Comradeship forms a 32.5-kilometer recreational circuit around Ljubljana with gravel-paved paths for walking, jogging, and cycling activities.

In February 1942, Italian forces surrounded Ljubljana with barbed wire fences to contain resistance activities, marking the future location of this commemorative path.

The trail features 102 octagonal memorial stones at former bunker locations, designed by architect Vlasto Kopač to preserve the memory of wartime events.

The entire path takes approximately 8 hours to complete on foot, with an elevation gain of 152 meters and various entry points accessible by public transport.

Since 1957, the March along the Wire event takes place annually near the liberation anniversary, offering commemorative badges to participants who complete the distance.
