Sevnica Castle

Sevnica Castle is a stone fortress standing on a hill with multiple wings featuring Renaissance architectural elements. Inside, rooms contain decorated walls and original artworks from different periods.

The fortress was founded in the 12th century as a defensive stronghold to protect the region. In the 16th century, it was transformed into a residential complex with more comfortable spaces.

The rooms display furniture, artworks, and objects from different periods that reflect how noble families lived in this region. Visitors can see the traces of these historical lifestyles in the collections here.

The location is easily accessible on foot during the day via a built pathway. Visitors should wear sturdy shoes, as steep stairs and uneven surfaces are present inside.

The hillsides surrounding the structure are planted with vineyards producing a local grape variety. This wine-growing tradition at this location stretches back several centuries.
