Grm Castle

Grm Castle is a Renaissance structure sitting on a hilltop in Novo Mesto with stone fountains and tree-lined paths running through landscaped gardens and grounds. The building features stone construction with classical architectural details that evolved through several periods.

The castle was built during the Renaissance when such structures served as noble residences in the region. In the early 1900s it was converted to serve as an agricultural education center, shifting its purpose to serve the community differently.

The grand hall displays ornate Renaissance and Baroque decorative elements that reflect how Slovenian nobility lived and expressed their taste. The rooms show the craftsmanship that went into furnishing a place of this status.

The castle can be reached via Skalicka Street 1 and has lodging options nearby for those who want to stay in the area. The grounds feature stairs and sloped paths, so wear comfortable walking shoes when exploring the property.

The entrance doors display original coats-of-arms carved into them, identifying the noble families who once lived here. The surrounding park holds rare tree species and an old water well, both of which remain standing today.
