Lendava Castle

Lendava Castle is a fortified structure standing on a hilltop in the Municipality of Lendava, Slovenia. The building displays an L-shaped layout with a central tower on its southwest side, thick buttresses reinforcing the walls, and a mansard roof covering two upper levels.

The property first appeared in historical records in 1192 under the control of the Bánffy family, who retained it for over 500 years. Between 1690 and 1707, the Esterházy family reconstructed the structure with Baroque features to signal their allegiance to the imperial court.

The castle now houses gallery and museum spaces where visitors can see local collections and artworks on display. Walking through the rooms, you encounter archaeological artifacts and exhibitions about the region's past.
