Erdődyho palác, Rococo palace in Old Town, Slovakia
Erdodyho Palace is a three-story building in Bratislava's Old Town featuring classical Rococo elements and ornate window details throughout its facade. Inside the structure there is a restaurant with an extensive wine collection and a bar with artworks on display.
Count Juraj Erdody commissioned architect Matej Walch to build this residence in 1770 on a site where three older houses once stood. The construction took place during a period when Bratislava was becoming an important cultural center.
The palace served in the 18th century as a gathering place where educated citizens met and musical performances took place. Today its rooms and decor still reflect the elegance of that period.
The building is centrally located in the Old Town and easily accessible on foot. The wine cellar and bar are open to visitors who wish to view the artistic setup or dine.
The basement contains a transformer station that distributes electricity throughout the Old Town district. This hidden technical installation shows how modern needs coexist within this historic structure.
