Ostrý

Ostrý is a rocky summit in the Little Carpathians that reaches 576 meters and stands out for its sharp, pointed peak. The steep rock formations create a distinctive silhouette visible from surrounding valleys.

The castle ruins were first recorded in 1273 when the fortification served to protect Hungarian territories and control trade routes through the mountains. The structure played a defensive role along regional borders for centuries.

Local residents maintain tales about a treasure chamber within the castle walls where an elderly woman became trapped due to her excessive greed.

The trail begins at the Buková reservoir and follows forest paths to the summit with steady climbing through wooded sections. Wear sturdy footwear because the rocky terrain can be slippery, especially when wet.

The castle ruins are built directly into the rock formations of the peak, blending so naturally with the stone that they appear as part of the mountain itself. This integration creates remarkable views from every angle.
