Radničné námestie

Radničné námestie is a rectangular public square in the heart of Bardejov's old town, measuring approximately 260 m (850 ft) in length and 80 m (260 ft) in width. About 46 medieval houses line three sides of the plaza, their facades framing the center and creating a cohesive architectural landscape.

The square originated in medieval times when Bardejov received market privileges and became an important trading center where merchants regularly exchanged goods. The architecture of the surrounding houses preserves building styles from multiple centuries, from early Gothic forms to later Renaissance modifications.

The buildings surrounding the square display architectural styles from different periods, with Gothic details and Renaissance elements reflecting the city's long history. Many of these structures now house restaurants, cafes, and shops, showing how the square continues to function as a gathering place for both locals and visitors.

The square is easy to explore on foot with clear pedestrian pathways across the entire area. Visitors will find numerous restaurants, cafes, and shops along the way, and a nearby tourist information center provides helpful guidance for orientation and activities throughout the city.

The square is part of Bardejov's UNESCO World Heritage site and underwent a comprehensive restoration in 2002 that carefully preserved its original medieval details. This renovation skillfully integrated modern conveniences into the historic setting without compromising its authentic character.
