Čeklís Castle, Medieval fortification ruins in Bernolákovo, Slovakia.
The remaining stone walls of Čeklís Castle stand on Várdomb hill, with sections measuring 190 centimeters in thickness at their base point.
Built in the 13th century to guard the eastern road from Bratislava, the castle fell into ruins by 1511 following attacks during Hussite campaigns.
The castle represented a strategic military position for the Kingdom of Hungary, leading to ownership by notable figures including Abraham Rufus and Mikuláš of Čeklís.
Visitors can reach the castle remains through a field path adjacent to Saint Stephen Church, with multiple accommodation options available in Bernolákovo.
A water tower constructed in 1905 stands upon the medieval foundation, incorporating architectural elements that reference the original castle design.
