City Park is a green space in Košice with walking paths, a pond featuring a floating fountain, and recreational areas for sports and leisure. The grounds connect the city center to the railway station with various facilities for visitors to enjoy.
The park was created in the 1860s, replacing city meadows and mineral water baths that once occupied the land. It was designed to bridge the city center with the newly built railway station.
The Swiss-style pavilion was built in 1857 to welcome the imperial visit of Franz Joseph I and Elisabeth of Bavaria. This structure shows how much the city valued royal occasions.
The park is open daily from 6 AM to 10 PM with free admission for all visitors. There are parking facilities available and different areas suited for various activities depending on your interests.
Villa Sandy was designed by Julius Sandy in 1909 and functions as a skating and tennis pavilion within the park. The building combines sporting facilities with distinctive architectural character.
