Chana

Chana is an administrative district in Songkhla Province in southeastern Thailand, consisting of 14 sub-districts with numerous villages spread across the area. The district office in Ban Na serves as the main administrative hub for the local communities and governance.

In the early 1900s, Chana was transferred from Phatthalung's administration to become a district under Songkhla Province. This administrative shift marked the beginning of the area as a separate governance entity.

The name Chana comes from the Malay word 'chenok', showing how Thai and Malay cultures have influenced each other in this part of Thailand. You can see this connection in how local people live and use the space around them.

The district is easily accessible by local transport, with Ban Na serving as the central point for orientation and services. Visit during the dry season when traveling through the area is most straightforward.

In 2019, the area received approval for a major development project aimed at bringing industrial zones and port facilities to the region. This initiative represents a significant shift in the district's economic focus beyond its traditional role.
