Songkhla Rajabhat University, university
Songkhla Rajabhat University is a public university in Mueang Songkhla District, in the south of Thailand, offering programs from bachelor to doctoral level. The campus is made up of several teaching and research buildings, libraries, student dormitories, and sports facilities spread across a single connected site.
The institution was founded in 1919 as a provincial school focused on teacher training, and it grew steadily over the following decades. It joined the national Rajabhat system in 1990 and became a full university in 2005.
The Rajabhat name connects this university to a nationwide network of Thai institutions that were originally built around teacher training. On campus, most students come from the surrounding region, giving the place a local and community-focused character that visitors can sense as they walk around.
The campus sits in Mueang Songkhla District and is reachable by local transport or songthaew from the city center. Once inside, signage is clear and facilities like ATMs and wireless internet are available across the grounds.
Although it now covers many fields, the institution has always kept a strong focus on training teachers for rural schools across southern Thailand. Many graduates return to work in small schools in the provinces around Songkhla, making the campus a quiet but steady source of teachers for the region.
