The Museum of Fine Arts of Turkmenistan is an art museum in the Kopetdag district and houses more than 6,000 artworks from various artistic traditions. The building features a grand rotunda with two levels and extensive gold ornamentation that creates an impressive setting for the collection.
The museum was founded in 1927 by sculptor A.A. Karelin as part of the State Museum of Local Lore. It became an independent institution in 1939.
The collection brings together artworks from many different artistic traditions and regions, including important pieces by local artists such as Durdy Bayramov. Walking through the galleries, you see how works from distant cultures sit alongside contemporary creations.
