Pervomaisk is an industrial city in Mykolaiv Oblast situated along both banks of the Southern Bug River. The town spreads across several residential districts with factories for machinery, engineering, food processing, and furniture manufacturing.
Three separate settlements called Olviopil, Holta, and Bohopil merged together in 1919 to form the town. The area experienced centuries of change under Lithuanian, Cossack, and Polish rule.
