National Nature Park Bug Gard

National Nature Park Bug Gard sits along the Southern Bug River and displays granite canyons, rapids, waterfalls, and rocky formations throughout its landscape. The park offers walking paths and viewpoints where visitors can experience these geological features up close.

The area gained scientific attention in the 1920s when early publications recorded its natural importance. Recognition of the place's geological and biological value led to its protection.

The name Gard comes from old Cossack fishing structures built along this river section. Local people connect these traditional buildings to the character of the place.

The park is easiest to reach by train or bus along the Kyiv-Mykolaiv route through nearby stations. Bring proper footwear for walking paths and be prepared for changing weather conditions.

Two rare plant species thrive only in the granite rock formations here and exist nowhere else. These plants are tied closely to the area's specific geological makeup.
