Skalat Castle, Medieval fortress in Skalat, Ukraine.
The castle features four corner towers connected by thick stone walls, forming a rectangular defensive structure situated on elevated ground.
Built in 1630 by Galician swordsman Krzysztof Wychrowski, the castle served as a crucial defensive point against Tatar invasions in western Ukraine.
The castle towers now function as exhibition halls, displaying archaeological artifacts, traditional weapons, and Ukrainian embroidered clothing from different periods.
Located at Ternopilska Street 3, the castle welcomes visitors daily from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM as part of the Ternopil Castles National Reserve.
Recent restoration efforts include plans to convert one of the castle towers into tourist accommodation, combining historical preservation with modern functionality.
