Established in 1870 on the former Fair Square, the park initially featured American maples, pyramidal poplars, and black locust trees along its central alley.
The square serves as a central location for municipal events and exhibitions by local artists, strengthening community bonds through regular public gatherings.
The square provides direct access to public transportation, including buses and trolleybuses, while offering multiple seating areas and children's playgrounds.
A granite fountain, originally designed for year-round operation, was later transformed into a decorative flower bed that changes its appearance with seasonal plantings.
