Shelby County, Administrative county in western Ohio, United States.

Shelby County spans 411 square miles of land, featuring the Great Miami River and agricultural fields across low rolling hills.

Established in 1819 from Miami County, the region received its name from Isaac Shelby, the first governor of Kentucky.

In 1846, a settlement of 383 freed individuals from Virginia created a notable community in Rumley, demonstrating early racial integration.

The county seat of Sidney provides governmental services, including health department facilities and family services for all county residents.

The Miami and Erie Canal's arrival in 1841 transformed the county's economy by connecting local farmers to broader markets.
